About the College

Located in the heart of the city, Aizawl College, the second oldest college in Aizawl, was established in the year 1975. It was affiliated to the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in the year 1975 upto 2002, and received recognition from the Government of Mizoram in 1976. It was upgraded to Deficit Grant-in-aid status with effect from the 1st November 1984 and became Government on the 1st January 1989. The college was included under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956 and Section 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956 with effect from 17.3.1987. While affiliated to NEHU, the college was one of the prominent members of the NEHU family. It is now affiliated to MZU and here too the college continues to occupy a prominent position. The College has two streams – Arts and Commerce, with eight  disciplines in the Arts stream offering both Elective and Core courses.

To impart higher education by providing suitable ground to achieve all-round development of the ability, talent and personality of the students and ensuring that they be good citizens.

Goals & Objectives:
To help form good habits, to acquire knowledge and skill, and to develop healthy interests and attitudes.
To make sincere efforts to educate students with suitable education so as to carry out various activities required in a dynamic modern society.
To provide incentives for creative minds.
To prepare students for competitions at national and international levels.
To emphasize the importance of athletics in physical and mental health, and to encourage students to participate in sports activities.
To improve language skills.
To provide vocational and professional education for specific jobs or professions including self-employment.
